I was frantically searching for a modern and timeless necklace in my jewelry collection. A timeless casual piece that would work with two outfits that day and hit right at the neckline. The frustration of not having one led me down the path of discovering metal clay and creating the Bronze Horizontal Bar with Crescent Pendant Necklace.
Metal clay can be shaped like any other clay. It consists of very small particles of metal such as silver or bronze. Originating in Japan in 1990, metal clay is hand shaped or used in molds. After drying, the clay is usually fired in a kiln, depending on the type of clay and the metal in it. The binder burns away, leaving the pure sintered metal. Shrinkage of between 8% and 30% occurs depending on the metal. Bronze metal textures when fired in a kiln.
he Bronze Horizontal Bar with Crescent Pendant Necklace measures 19 inches. This timeless necklace, created by hand, consists of a one inch bronze bar. A bronze crescent shaped piece hangs below it. The bronze bar is wire wrapped onto gold-filled link chain. A gold-filled lobster clasp holds this pretty necklace in place.
